Indian Tractor Sales Cross 9 Lakh Units in FY26, Exports Climb Too

India's tractor industry crossed 9 lakh units in domestic sales for the fiscal year, according to figures compiled from major manufacturers, marking steady growth over the previous year. Industry analysts point to a strong rabi harvest and improved rural cash flows as the primary drivers behind the recovery.
Mahindra retained its position as the largest seller by volume, followed by Swaraj, Sonalika and TAFE's combined Massey Ferguson and Eicher brands. The sub-50 HP segment continued to account for the bulk of volumes, though demand for tractors above 55 HP grew at a faster rate, reflecting rising mechanisation on larger holdings.
Exports also posted healthy growth, with several manufacturers citing increased demand from African and Southeast Asian markets for compact and mid-range tractors. Sonalika in particular has continued to position itself as India's largest tractor exporter by volume.
Industry bodies remain cautiously optimistic about the coming fiscal year, though they flag input cost inflation and interest rate movements as key variables that could affect financing-driven demand.
