Mahindra 575 DI XP Plus vs Swaraj 744 FE: Which 45 HP Tractor Wins?

Both the Mahindra 575 DI XP Plus and the Swaraj 744 FE sit at the very top of India's best-seller charts in the 45 HP segment, and for good reason: each offers a proven driveline, wide dealer coverage and strong resale value. But the two take slightly different approaches to the same job.
On paper the Mahindra edges ahead with a marginally higher lift capacity and a smoother dual-clutch setup, which matters for farmers running heavier rotavators or disc harrows regularly. The Swaraj counters with a reputation for even lower running costs and a driveline farmers describe as nearly bulletproof over a full decade of hard use.
Fuel efficiency is close enough that most farmers won't notice a meaningful difference across a season, though the 744 FE has a slight edge in independent field tests. Where the two diverge more clearly is service network density: Swaraj dealers tend to be marginally more common in interior Punjab and Haryana, while Mahindra's network has an edge in Central India.
For farmers upgrading from a smaller tractor and prioritising haulage strength, the 575 DI XP Plus is the safer pick. For those who prioritise absolute lowest cost of ownership over a decade of use, the 744 FE remains extremely hard to beat.
